JI begins anti- government movement
PESHAWAR: The Jamaat e Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that the JI has started a movement to get rid of the present corrupt and incompetent government.
Addressing a record public meeting at Peshawar on Sunday, he urged the nation to stand by the Jamaat for wiping out corruption, poverty, price spiral, unemployment and other social evils. He said the doors of the JI were open to all.
Former JI chief, Qazi Husain Ahmed, JI deputy chief Sirajul Haq and Prof, Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, also spoke on the occasion.
Syed Munawar Hasan said the revolutionary changes in the Arab world indicated that a real change in this country could be brought about by a well organized party only, and added that the JI with its clean record, honest and competent leadership and a solid countrywide net work, alone could bring such change.
He said the basic point of the JI election manifesto was to build Pakistan as a model welfare state on the pattern of the State of Madina by eliminating poverty, want and hunger.
The JI chief said that terrorism would continue in the country as long as the US had its hold here. The US has attacked Pakistan's independence and sovereignty and made it a target after Iraq and Afghanistan.
He said that on December 16, the nation had observed the 40th anniversary of the Fall of Dhaka. India had a big role in the break up of Pakistan. But ironically, our rulers were keen to declare India as their Most Favoured nation.
The JI chief told the high ups of the Television channels that they could not obstruct the way of an Islamic revolution. He counseled them to abandon partial approach and give equitable coverage to all the parties.
He advised the agencies to deal with an iron hand the elements doing terrorist activities in this country on the bidding of the India and Northern Alliance of Afghanistan. But, he said, they should have dialogue with our own people and so that they did not cross over to the enemy.
Syed Munawar Hasan asked the PPP neither to politicize President Zardari's ailment nor hand over the country to the youngsters.
Addressing the crowd, Qazi Husain Ahemd said the country was on the threshold of an Islamic revolution. He said oppression and tyranny was the order of the day here and the US was playing its game. He said the nation rejected the US pressure.
He declared that if the rulers restored the NATO supplies, the people would stage of protest on the G.T. Road.
Speaking on the occasion, Sirajul Haq said that the ANP was doomed to suffer a defeat in the next elections as it had turned into an American party.
Prof. Ibrahim Khan termed today's public meeting a referendum and said if the rulers did not change their policies, the masses would throw them out.
