Awan's press talk didn’t aim to disrespect judiciary: PM



ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani submitted in the Supreme Court of Pakistan his second explanatory reply regarding a press conference that criticized the judiciary, Geo News reported.

Prime Minister in his explanatory note said that the press conference, by mo means aimed at disrespecting the judiciary.

Former minister of law Dr Babar Awan had talked to media at the Press Information Department (PID) immediately after Supreme Court’s Dec 1st hearing of the memogate case giving full vent to his party’s reservations.

During that press briefing, Dr Awan spoke loud enough to draw Supreme Court’s annoyance, which tasked Prime Minister with an explanation, which he duly sent to the honourale court, but was not enough of appease the highest judicial office of Pakistan.

Subsequently, the Supreme Court demanded a categorical reply from Prime Minister, to which Attorney General of Pakistan Moulvi Anwar submitted a 5-point explanatory note on Prime Minister's behalf.
