SC resumes Memogate case
ISLAMABAD: A nine-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is hearing the Memogate scandal case.
The Interior Ministry on Monday called the memo a 'pack of lies' and declared that Mansoor Ijaz, the man at the centre of the controversy, had tried to pit the Pakistani institutions against each other.
In compliance with the Supreme Court's order issued on December 19, Interior Secretary Khwaja Muhammad Siddique Akbar submitted his affidavit in response to the affidavits earlier submitted by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, DG ISI General Shuja Pasha, Mansoor Ijaz and Pakistan's former ambassador Husain Haqqani.
Earlier, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani submitted his rejoinder to the Supreme Court, insisting that the 'memo is a reality' and an attempt to lower the morale of Pakistan's armed forces.
Moreover, Ministry of Defence in its written reply to the Supreme Court of Pakistan said that it had no control on the Army/ISI operations.
Meanwhile ISI chief, Gen Shuja Pasha in his reply to Supreme Court on the memo issue has reaffirmed his earlier stance.
