Controversial memo can't threaten Pak sovereignty: Haqqani
ISLAMABAD: Embattled former Pakistan ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani in his rejoinder submitted to the Supreme Court in memogate case on Thursday called for an investigation into all the articles of Mansoor Ijaz, Geo News reported.
In the rejoinder submitted in response to the statements of Army Chief and DG ISI, Hussain Haqqani said the controversial memo could not dampen the morale of Pak Army.
Pakistan's sovereignty is not so weak as to come under threat by a memo that is shrouded in controversy, Haqqani maintained.
He said he had no knowledge of a meeting between Mansoor Ijaz and DG ISI Lt. Gen. Ahmed Shuja Pasha.
He termed Mansoor Ijaz's meeting with DG ISI as a 'mysterious' act, saying it had become necessary to know the complete record and details of the meeting.
Hussain Haqqani said one wondered what was behind the October 10 article of Mansoor Ijaz.
He said even the recipient of the memo did not deem the document as reliable.
He maintained that Mansoor Ijaz had repeatedly criticized ISI.
He said the Army Chief was right in saying that he (Hussain Haqqani) was summoned to the meeting held in Prime Minister House.
